How to reserve a rat or get placed on our wait list
If you are interested in adopting one of our available rats or any future rats, please fill out the form below.  This form is not binding to you or to this rattery.  We reserve the right to back out of any adoption/reservation at any time.  We will review the information you send us and respond to you via e-mail. I am on-line Monday-Friday, but not on the weekends.  If we have a rat available that you can adopt, we will let you know.  Otherwise, we will place you on our wait list and send you e-mail updates when we have new rats available.

We will usually start accepting specific rat reservations when the rats reach around 4 weeks of age (this may vary depending on the litter and when we have chosen who we will keep for breeding).  The rats will be able to go to their new homes at 6 weeks of age or later.  When you reserve a specific rat - please contact us with specific transportation information - including where you want to meet and day you want to meet.
Our waiting list is not on a first come first serve basis.  We will adopt our rats out to people we trust and whom communicate well with us.
We love to adopt to families with children as long as the parents are the main adopters.  Kids often get tired of pets and we want to make sure that if that happens, our rats will still have a responsible adult that will give them the time and attention that they need.
Also, note that we generally will only adopt out rats in same sex pairs.  There are a few exceptions that we must first approve of.  We do encourage neutering and may waive adoption fees if you provide us with proof of a spay or neuter.
Please keep in mind that we breed to benefit the rats and not the rat owners.  This means that we breed a very limited number of rats.  We do not breed to meet demand.  What that means for you as an adopter, is that you will have to wait sometimes a long time to get a rat from us, but that rat will be the highest quality that we can produce.

How to get your rat
We are located in Kansas City, Kansas.  We do not ship, but are willing to drive reasonable distances for pick-up and drop-off of pets (assuming we have a working vehicle at the time).  If the half-way point between us and you is more than an hour drive, we may ask for travel expense compensation.  We do not typically allow people into our rattery for security purposes.  We will generally try to set up a meeting location that is convenient for both of us.
On occasions, we can arrange to meet adopters in Northwest, MO; Omaha, NE; Belleview, NE; Des Moines, IA; Chicago, IL; and St. Louis, MO.  The locations depend on when we are traveling to family or rat shows.  I will usually list these trips on our
Site Calendar.  Please e-mail me if you need to utilize one of these arrangements and we will see what we can do.

What paperwork is involved?
An adoption contract must be signed for adoption of all rats.  At this time the adoption agreement includes a small fee of $10 per rat for a pet only contract.  This is to assist in covering the expenses of breeding and caring for the rats, and to ensure our adopters are serious about being good pet owners.  Breeding contract prices and compensation will be negotiated on a case by case basis.
At this time, we are not offering breeding contracts.  So unless you are an established, reputable, registered breeder who has been approved by our mentoring breeders-don't ask for one.
After you have received your rat(s) and filled out the adoption agreement; I will send you a Certificate of Ownership, a full NARR pedigree, and a copy of your adoption agreement through the mail.
If you want to review the contract you can find it here.

I do not generally give out my telephone number because I don't generally talk on the telephone.  Please use this form to contact me or send an e-mail to the following address.  I run all my rattery business on-line.  If you adopt a rat with us, you will receive our phone number to arrange meeting time and locations and for any emergencies that may arrise.

When will you get a response?
I generally am on-line during the daytime Monday - Friday and will try to give you a response as soon as I receive your e-mail.  I'm rarely ever on-line over the weekend, so any e-mails received late Friday - Sunday will not be responded to until sometime on Monday.  Also, December is an extremely busy time for my work.  Please have patience with me during that time if I don't respond to your inquiries immediately.  I generally will not be breeding/adopting in December though there will always be exceptions.  I will also not be breeding/adopting in the months surrounding shows that we plan to attend.  This is to allow us proper pre and post show quarantine to guarantee the safety of our rats.

Please check our our availability page before you fill this form out to see what type of rats we have available.
