So Licky Rattery

We've started introducing our new girls to our previous girls Bethena and Vanya. They all just kind of ignore Bethena since she is so old. They just sniff her and walk away. Vanya is loving having some playmates. I don't think I realized how bored she must have been with Bethena sleeping all day. Vanya seems to be getting along well with the girls now that she has established dominance; however, when we turn out the lights to go to bed, she starts to beat the little ones up and we have to rescue them. I guess she's just not ready for them to spend the night. Hopefully, she'll get more used to them each day. The boys are still growing huge and are the ultimate cuddle machines.

Well the four new little ones have almost doubled in size. We left over the weekend and they seemed to just sprout. The extra food in the cage probably helped contribute to that. The three light colored ones (Tiberius, Tesla, and Gnocchi) have really had some color changing. Their noses and butts have darkened up and we have hopes of possible Himalayans or Siamese. Tiberius and Tesla are becoming very hard to tell apart. Lydia is still shy, but is starting to play some games with me.
Our older rat Bethena has been struggling with some type of little mite. So her and Vanya got olive oil baths last night. They were very grumpy about it. Thank goodness for quarantine - the babies haven't gotten them. I haven't seen any mites on Vanya, but we're treating her because she shares a cage with Bethena. We're still not sure where they came from. The girls weren't exposed to any other rats. I'm wondering if they weren't on the bedding when I bought it. I'm thinking of switching bedding anyway.

Last night we went and picked up our new babies from Enchanting Rats. They are so adorable. They were born on October 10th, 2007 to Gus and Nina. Gus is a huggable dumbo berkshire and Nina is a beautiful Siamese. We're so excited to get our new additions. Thank you so much Enchanting Rats!
